Gwendolyn Myers born has over ten years of experience working in Peace and non- violence education among in and out of school youth. She’s a Certified FBA Young Mediator & Global Shaper of the Global Shapers Community/World Economic Forum. A member of the United Nations InterAgency Network on Youth Development Working Group on Youth for Gender Equality in New York and recently nominated as Expert in Human Rights by the World Economic Forum joining more than 5,000 world leading experts engaged by the Forum to help shape the global agenda.
She serves as Founder& Executive Director of a non-profit; Messengers of Peace (MOP) Liberia Inc with major responsibilities for program formulation and execution as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. Gwen has extensive experience in managing programs for young people through a well-established coaching and mentoring program initiated in poor communities in and around Monrovia and work with ex-combatants as mediator. Nominated and selected as one of the top three finalists for the Outstanding Humanitarian Award, Adult Category, Republic of Liberia on 30th December, 2015 for African Heroes Award; The Liberia Series. 2017 Emerging Woman of Substance, Style &Spirit Award as a phenomenal woman still in her twenties and making significant impact in the Liberian society and globally by the Order of the Women of Substance, Style and Spirit, Republic of Liberia, 21st May, 2017.
She served as one of the four discussion leaders (experts) at the interactive high level dialogue workshop in collaboration with UNWomen on “Empowering women and youth for peace and sustainable development”, UN High-level Dialogue entitled “Building Sustainable Peace for All: Synergies between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustaining Peace, at the special invitation of the President of the Seventy-First session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Excellency Mr. Peter Thomson. Gwendolyn delivered the first ever-official address to the UN Peacebuilding Commission on youth as equal partners in peace and security issues in New York on Nov 23, 2015 on behalf of United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY) advocating for scr#2250 on Youth, Peace and Security that was adopted Dec 9, 2015 by the UN Security Council. In addition, She has experience using various media such as radio, print and community outreach to implement and evaluate programs.
Ms. Myers is a Youth and Peace Columnist with the Liberian Daily Observer Newspaper, tertiary education in Biology & Chemistry from the Mother Patern College of Health Sciences, Stella Maris Polytechnic and graduate certificate in Peacebuilding &Leadership from the Eastern Mennonite University, VA, USA. 2015/2016 Fellow of the Center for Women, Faith and Leadership (CWL) at the Institute for Global Engagement in collaboration with Pepperdine University –USA and Certified Mediator-2016/2017 Special Program in Dialogue and Mediation with Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) in Sweden.
